  1. Warm Up: • For which graph is there more than one x-value for y = 3? • For which graph are there more than one y-value for x = 3? • If the equation x = 2 were drawn on both graphs, how many points would intersect this line?

  2. January 16th, 2018 Agenda: • Warm Up (5) • Vocabulary (14) • Clock Partners (10) • MATHia (55) • Exit Slip (5) Essential Question: What are important characteristics to look at when grouping graphs?

  3. Vocabulary: • Turn to pg. 32 • Add each of the bolded words to your vocabulary sheet. • Create your own definition! Do not copy the one from the book. • Give an example of that word. • Give an non-example. Something that might be mistaken for that word, but is not that word.

  7. Vocabulary: • Range • Set of output values Example

  8. Vocabulary: • Function • A relation in which each input has exactly one output. Example Non-Example

  9. Vocabulary: • Vertical Line Test • Using a vertical line to test if a graph is a function. Examples Non-Example

  10. Vocabulary: • Discrete Graph • A graph made up of isolated points. Non-Example Examples

  11. Vocabulary: • Continuous Graph • A graph of points connected by a line or curve. Non-Example Examples

  12. Clock Partners: • Find someone in the class. • Shake hands and introduce yourself to them. • Agree on a time to be clock partners. • Write their name on that time.

  13. MATHia: • online.carnegielearning.com • Complete the first workspace! • If you do not finish it in class, it is homework.

  14. Last Bit of Class: • Put away your laptop • Grab a Skills Practice Book • Tear out pgs. 240-245

  15. Homework: • MATHia • Pg. 240-245 (1-18 odd only) • Remind parents about Back to School Night 1/17

  16. Exit Slip: Homework: pg. 240-245 odd only • Sketch a relation that is an example of a continuous function. • Sketch a relation that is an example of a discrete function. Explain how you know which is which!

  17. Vocab Practice: • Domain: • Range: • Is it a function? • Why? • Continuous or discrete?
