  1. Knowing WHY there are different Christian attitudes is just as important as knowing WHAT the different attitudes are Fact File– Abortion What do all Christians agree on? All Christian agree that life is a gift from God because in Psalm 139 it says it is God who creates us in the womb. They also agree that all humans are known by God before birth because it says so in Jeremiah. This means all Christians accept that the embryo/foetus is a valuable human being from the moment of conception. For this reason Christians do not promote or encourage abortion because it is taking a human life, and Exodus 20 (Do not kill) makes it clear that this is wrong. However the Catholic Church and CofE do have different attitudes towards abortion depending on the circumstance, this is because of the different ways in which they apply the Bible teaching .
