  2. History of Taxation The history of taxation in the United States began when it was composed of colonies ruled by the British Empire, French Empire, and Spanish Empire. After independence from Europe the United States collected poll taxes, tariffs, and excise taxes. The United States imposed income taxes intermittently until 1895 when unapportioned taxes on interest, dividends and rents were ruled unconstitutional.
  3. Agree or Disagree with taxation? I think the tax are good, because without the tax the cops do not want to keep them at work.
  4. Colorado In Colorado sales tax rates vary from city to city. The state sales tax rate is 2.9%. However, counties and cities charge their own rates in addition to the 2.9% state sales tax rate.
