This project aims to develop a systematic approach to provide timely indication and warning of impending infectious disease threats across plants, animals, and human populations. It will leverage data from various sources, including environmental and climatic factors, to enable rapid prevention and response. The project is funded by the National Library of Medicine and led by Dr. Seong K. Mun at Georgetown University Medical Center and Washington Hospital Center.

ISIS Approach to Integrated Biodefense • We need a systematic way to provide • Indication and Warning (I&W) of impending threats from • infectious diseases across our • plants, • Animals and • human populations • So prevention can be rapidly undertaken

Problem Definition • Human medical surveillance focused • Minimal incorporation of I&Ws • Alerting capability: days (mostly) to weeks (rarely) • Limited geographic and topic coverage • Stovepiped systems and mission statements • No interface between I&W alerting and responder community What can IT do to address this problem?
