Dealing with the Media • EXPLAIN: All media requests must go through WECC’s Communications Department • GIVE: Communications Department contact information (noted on previous slide) • TAKE: Caller’s name, news organization, ask what their deadline is, and obtain their contact number – please note the time of the call • CONTACT: The Communications Department immediately – even if the reporter said they would
Next Step • If the WECC Communications team decides that it is in WECC’s best interest to undertake an interview, you may be asked to join the interview. • If this does occur, the WECC team will work with you in advance to prepare messaging and talking points, and will lead the interview.
