  1. Scriptures: • 1 Corinthians 11:19 For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you. (heresy)”Webster says a heresy is an opinion or doctrine contrary to the TRUTH or to generally accepted beliefs.” I John 2:19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.

  2. Can both scriptures be true? • What these two scriptures define is: • Division among groups of churchmen are necessary to prove what is true. • Bringing together all the worlds religions is a pipe dream that negates truth • IF the leaving party is going against the doctrines of the Apostles of Jesus Christ then they very well may be false converts. • If the leaving party ascribes to the doctrines of the apostles then the party left behind may be the false converts.

  3. Roman catholicismvsBiblical Christianity

  4. Acronymns • Roman • Christ • Each letter represents something to talk about usually with in this case bible references.

  5. “R” • R stands for RELIGION • A religion is a method of trying to reach and relate to God through “works” So it is Man working toward salvation by good works. • As opposed to True Christianity which is God reaching down to save man through the finished work of Christ on the cross. • Roman Catholicism, some protestants, Judaism, Islam, Mormonism, and many others are religions. (A works based religion is a counterfeit and is an example of those that have departed from the doctrines of the apostles as set forth in scripture.)

  6. “O” • O stands for the wafer Jesus • In R.C. the priest claims to have the power to Change the wafer into the literal Body of Christ. • Furthermore, transubstantiation states that the substance of the elements are miraculously changed, even though their appearance is not. In other words, the bread and wine will appear as bread and wine under close scientific examination, but the true substance is mystically the Body and Blood of Christ.  • There are no miracles in the bible where a substance looks like one thing but is declared to be something different. For example, Jesus did not change water into wine under the appearance of it remaining water! • And you will see Catholics bowing before the wafer in worship as if it were Jesus Christ.

  7. “M” • M stands for Man centered traditions • The 66 book bible has no basis for purgatory, the Eucharist, indulgences, and other R.C. • Doctrines. • Mat 15:9 (which of these is an apostolic doctrine? • 1. “In (godliness) do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.” • 2. “In (vain) do they worship me, teaching as • doctrines the commandments of men.” • Man made doctrines are established by RC councils of bishops

  8. “A” • R.C. doctrine…Apostolic Succession • Signs of an apostle (II Cor 12:12) which of these two is the apostolic doctrine? • 1. “truly the signs of (believing Christians) were wrought among you in all patience and signs and wonders and mighty deeds. • 2 “truly the signs of an Apostle were wrought among you in all patience and signs and wonders and mighty deeds. • Must have seen Christ (I Cor 9:1) • No pope as far as I know has raised the dead nor has he literally seen the resurrected Christ. • In fact many popes were worldly and bought the office of pope with money. • One pope fathered an illegitimate child and that child later became the new pope.

  9. “N” • “n” stands for N-dulgences • No biblical doctrine will allow money to be paid to the church treasury either before or after sinning in order to be forgiven of the offense. • In fact Jesus drove the profiteers out of the temple when they were attempting to turn church into a profit making operation.

  10. “C” • In the Acronym CHRIST • “C” stands for Christ the head of the church • It is Christ who personally leads the church through the indwelling Holy Spirit. • The Church is the whole of all who are truly born from above and are scattered here and there among men women and children of many differing denominations and lands and might be in churches whose doctrines are questionable.

  11. “H” • “H” stands for Heaven. • Christ is now in heaven • Mathew 24:23(Which is the apostolic doctrine?) • 1. Then if any man shall say unto you, lo here is Christ, or there: (You should bow in worship) • 2. Then if any man shall say unto you, lo here is Christ, or there: believe it not. • Neither is he in a eucharistic wafer! • Catholics bow down to the wafer as if it were god! Do you think that might be idolatry?

  12. “R” • “R” stands for righteousness “imputed” to the believer by faith. • Romans 4:3 Which is apostolic? • 1. For what saith the scripture? Abraham (worked for God) and it was accounted unto him for righteousness. • 2. For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God and it was accounted unto him for righteousness.

  13. “I” • “I” stands for “Israel” God’s chosen people. • It may be unpopular with some, but it is God who chooses who will be “His” people. • He has chosen Israel as his earthly people and likewise He has chosen both Jew and gentile for a heavenly abode. • (Matt 7:14) Which are the words of Jesus? • Speaking about heaven Jesus said “But (Many) are they that find it! • Speaking about heaven Jesus said “But few are they that find it!

  14. “S” • “S” stands for “Salvation • Acts 4:12 Which is apostolic doctrine? • 1. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. • 2. There is salvation for all who call on the name of their God. John 14:6 Which are the words of Jesus? • 1. Jesus saith unto him, I am the way the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the father, but by me. • 2. Jesus saith unto him, There are many ways to God the father in this world.

  15. “t” • “t” is for the “cross” • I Cor 1:18 “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.” • Brian McLaren says that God’s treatment of Jesus on the Cross was divine child abuse. • Those who go away from the true gospel were never saved. See I John 2:19

  16. Eternal Security • As opposed to a works based effort to be saved, • The born again Christian has eternal life now. • I John 5:13 • These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the Son of God. • John 6:38-40 • For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. And this is the father’s will which has sent Me, that of all which He hath given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.

  17. In Closing • What about those who claim to once have faith but now say they do not believe and fall away? • 1 John 2:19 “They went out from us, but they were not of us’ for f they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us

  18. More closing • Matthew 7:21-23 • Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. • Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name done many wonderful works? • And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

  19. Lets review Roman • R is for Religion • O is for the Jesus Wafer • M is for man centered traditions • A is for the false doctrine of apostolic succession • N is for Indulgences Christ • C is for Christ the head of the church • H is for the heavenly abode of Christ now • I is for the nation of Israel • S is for Salvation in Christ alone • T is for the Cross of Christ

  20. A scripture to think about! • Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in thine heart that He was raised from the dead, thou shalt be saved. • For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Rom 10:13) • Have you believed and sincerely called upon the name of the Lord? His name is Jesus Christ! • Have your sins been forgiven? • In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
