  1. Location of Plants

  2. Purpose The reason we are doing this project is to see if the amount of sunlight will affect the growth of the plants. Hypothesis We think that the plants will grow better in partial sunlight because plants can’t have too much direct sunlight, however they have to get some sunlight

  3. The Materials • 9 Styrofoam cups • 27 radish seeds • 9 cups of potting soil • 6 cups of water • 1 spot that gets direct sunlight • 1 spot that gets partial sunlight • 1 spot that gets no sunlight • 12 inch ruler • 9 sheets of paper • pen • computer

  4. The Procedures • Step 1 purchase 9 Styrofoam cups,1 bag of potting soil, and 27 radish seeds • Step 2 place 2½ cups of potting soil in each of three cups • Step 3 place 3 radish seeds in each cup • Step 4 place 10 ml of water in each cup • Step5 place 1 cup in the window sill, one cup in the science closet, and 1 cup in Shelly’s office • Step 6 check cups every day for growth • Step 7 measure with ruler how far plant has grown • Step 8 water 5 ml every day • Step 9 repeat steps 2-8 two more times

  5. Graphed Results

  6. Conclusion We learned that our hypothesis was wrong because we thought the radishes would grow better in partial sunlight but they grew better in no sunlight. The plants that had no sunlight were taller but they were yellow. They were taller because of all the heat they got. They were yellow because they had chlorophyll in them but there was no sunlight to activate it. If we do this project again we would find different areas to put the plants.

  7. Conclusion Seeds in the office window. Seeds in the classroom. Seeds in Science Closet.

  8. Acknowledgements We would like to thank Cassi’s parents for providing Styrofoamcups. We also would like to thank Ms. Lloyd , Mrs. Buscher , and Mrs. Bowman. Ms. Lloyd for providing the potting soil, Mrs. Buscher for providing the radish seeds, and Mrs. Bowman for letting us do this project.
