Lesson „English/Lithuanian proverbs“ • Target group: secondary school students • Duration: 45 min. • Tools and material: mobile phones/tablets (with QR Scanner app), computer, multimedia, smartboard, access to the Internet
Aim of the lesson • To deepen the knowledge about English proverbs and be able to relate them to Lithuanian proverbs and reveal their meaning in practical situations.
Students will: • know English proverbs and their equivalents inLithuanian; • understand cultural significance of proverbs; • be able to revealthe meaning of proverbs in practical situations.
Lesson plan • Introduction(5 min.): • Presentation of the topic; • Aim of the lesson; • Tools and material.
Lesson plan 2. Guess the meaning of the proverb(5 min.): Students scan QR code with a mobile phone/tablet and do matching task. They have to match the English proverb with its Lithuanian equivalent/or guess the meaning of the proverb.
Lesson plan 3. What’s the proverb?(15 min.) • Students work in pairs. They chose one of the proverbs from exercise and create a visual material using Pixton, Google Drive, CamStudio to illustrate the proverb. Advanced students might use a few proverbs and create a dialogue, a real-life situation or a story and then role play it.
Lesson plan 4. Presentation(15 min. ): • Students present their work to a class, other students should guess which proverb was presented.
Lesson plan 5. Summary of the lesson (5 min.): • assessment/ self-assessment; • reflection.
