  2. A way to remember the step is Does McDonald sell cheese burgers . First you divide then you multiply next you subtract then check next bring down. The 2 is the divisor the # 2531 is the dividend .

  3. 2 goes 2 one time , so you place the 1 over 2.

  4. Now you multiply 1x2=2 bring down the 2 and put it under the other 2.

  5. After you multiply you subtract 2-2=0.Next, you have to check to see if the 0 is smaller then 2 and it is.

  6. Now , you bring down the 5.

  7. Then see how many times 2 goes into 5 and place the 2 on top.

  8. So you put the 4 under the 5.

  9. Now you subtract 4 from 5 and get 1 . then you check to see if the 1 is smaller since it is your o.k. . Next you bring down the 3.

  10. Now the division step.2 goes in 13 six times . So , you put the 6 over the 3 .

  11. 6 times 2 is 12.

  12. Next subtract 13-12=1. now check if 1 is smaller than 2 and 1 is smaller than 2 so you are good to go on to the next step.

  13. Now bring down the 1.

  14. 2 goes in 5 times so you put the 5 over the 1.

  15. Next , you multiply . 5x2=10 so you put it under the 11 .

  16. Now you subtract the 10 from 11 and get 1 . Now you need to check to see if the 1 is smaller then 2 and it is so your o.k. .

  17. The answer is 1,265 r 1, which is called a quotient and the r is for the remainder which is the left over number.
