HIE-ISOLDE User facilities Building 507 3rd HIE ISOLDE Physics Coordination Group meeting CERN, 3 September 2012 Erwin Siesling
User Facilities • Increasing the surface of the Solid State Lab in building B.115 by 120m2: • For RP safety reasons all solid state activities will be moved from B.275 to B.115 • This will suppress the existing workshop in B.115 and courtyard between B.115 and B.601 • 2. Replace the existing building 507 by a new building / modular cabins: • Ground floor (only accessible from within the surveyed area): • - Labs and workshop • First floor (accessible from outside the surveyed area): • - Data Acquisition rooms • - Meeting room/Visitors Center • - (Kitchen?) • Design study: • Eliseo Perez-Duenas GS/SE
Cost studies new B 507 Use of modular cabins instead of a full concrete building Phase 1: estimate 120kChf 160kChf - dismounting the present building 30kChf - construction permit - adapting the concrete foundation 130kChf Phase 2: estimate 500kChf 520kChf - (non-standard) modular cabins, interconnected and on 2 floors - total surface 420 m2 435 m2 - not taken in account electrical installations, CV, Labo’s, etc. • Advantages: - lower costs • - fast construction • - flexible work floor
