Nurture = Environment • Inherited traits are only half of the picture. • Family, friends, cultural group – all have influence on your personality. • Family – teaches how to behave, good or bad Modeling – copying the behavior of others • Friends / Peer group – childhood thru teenage years. Am. teens spend over 50% of their time with peers. Influence can be + or -. • Culture – each culture places different value on different traits.
