Education • Failed his exams in high school • Enrolled in the School for Architecture and Decorative Arts in Haarlem • He studied architecture for about a week before deciding to go into art instead • Studied under Samuel Jessurun de Mesquita
Inspiration • Escher lived in Italy for 11 years • Traveled throughout Italy and Spain, finding interesting things to draw and sketch • He was influenced by the works of Giovanni Battista Piranesi, an Italian artist.
Style/Movement • M.C. Escher is known for his use of impossible shapes and designs • Most of his artwork contains aspects that would be impossible in a 3D form.
