  5. Presented in screw top septum sample vials Homogeneous Clean Pure! Purity is essential if Accurate Mass data is required. Mass Spectrometry Sample requirements

  6. ~ 1 mg /ml in a suitable solvent: Always state the solvent used. When in doubt, consult with the technician. EI/CI: preferred solvent is Dichloromethane. Alternatives include Hexane, Acetone or methanol but solvent must be volatile. ES: Use Acetonitrile, Methanol or Water ONLY. MALDI: preferred solvent is Acetonitrile. Solvent must be volatile Mass Spectrometry Sample requirements

  7. Samples may be submitted during normal working hours. Completed sample forms – done in duplicate, per sample – must be submitted with samples. The ASEP sample log MUST be completed. If the sample form or log is incomplete the sample will be returned unanalysed. Sample Reception

  8. Analysis will be in strict chronological order except where: Analysis is suitable for batching by the analyst Similar sample types are being processed Samples are urgent Sample Processing

  9. Supervisors consent required Request made either directly to Trevor Sewell or Robin Patrick or via the appropriate technician. Repeated requests for Urgent analysis will be referred to the Head of School Urgent Samples

  10. Results will be attached to the sample submission form as and when they are ready Completed analysis / results will be placed – on a daily basis – in the ASEP entrance for collection Reporting
