Resiliency Community Resilience -- “Enable the recognition, understanding, communication of, and planning for risk and empower individuals and communities to make informed risk management decisions necessary to adapt to, withstand, and quickly recover from future incidents” (National Preparedness Goal, 2nd Edition, 2015)

Focus of IEMC • From the Strategic Plan’s desired future: • Thriving individuals, families and communities • A prosperous economy that benefits all • Supporting these, this IEMC will focus on: • housing, • the economy, • schools, and • health
Long Term Community Recovery • The process of establishing a community based post disaster vision and identifying projects and project funding strategies best suited to achieve that vision, and employing a mechanism to implement those projects • Typically a 6 - 12 week planning process setting the blueprint for community recovery • Shaped by the community, resources available and damage sustained • Importance of planning beginning pre-disaster
Long Term Community Recovery (cont.) Rebuilding a community after a major or catastrophic disaster is a huge undertaking. The most effective way to accomplish holistic post‐disaster redevelopment is to be prepared before a disaster strikes.
