Current Situation • WebCT 4.1 • MUW’s current LMS – will be retired 1/1/11 • Course shells manually created • Students manually entered • Student Banner information not in sync with LMS • System has incompatibility issues with newer Internet browsers
What Will Change • LMS Management – BlackBoard • Will be hosted by BlackBoard • Course shells will be automatically generated • Students will be automatically entered into shells • Student Banner information will now sync • Browser incompatibility issues will be resolved
What’s New in BlackBoard 9? • Interface • Web 2.0 Interface • Look and feel completely different from WebCT 4.1 • Course homepage • Each course has a homepage which displays what has changed since they last entered the course
What’s New in BlackBoard 9? • Control Panel • The WebCT 4.1 Control Panel is gone • Instructors can edit on any page • Course Tools menu always visible • Assignments Tool • Automatically renames each student’s assignment files with their name and filename submitted

What’s New in BlackBoard 9? • Gradebook • Enter grades into sheet similar to Excel • Grades automatically saved • Records grade history (who last entered grades, who changed, old grade, etc.) • Categorize views for combined sections • Allows for ease of dropping lowest scores
