Enhancement of the Integrated Planning • National Energy Outlook for 2030 • Ten-Year Energy Expansion Planning - 2020 • Technical, Economical and Environmental Studies • Project Implementaion Program • Energy and Electricity Matrices – Clean and Renewable • Share of Renewables: 46% (Energy); 85% (Electricity) • Manual for Hydropower Inventory of River Basins • Considering social and environmental dimensions as well as multiple water uses • Windpower Atlas

Energy Security • Hydropower based • Introduction of Windpower and Biomass (complimentary basis) • Biofuels: Ethanol e Biodiesel • Developed in a sustainable way; advanced technology • No impact on food security • Small farming and Social Certificate stimulated in biodiesel • Public auctions procedure for purchase energy • Generation and Transmission • Long-term contracts: 15 – 30 years • Adequate financing scheme

System Optimization and Energy Efficiency • Electrical interconnection among regions • National Grid will cover 99,5% of the whole elctrical system in 2014 • Replacement of diesel generation by natural gas in the city of Manaus • Hydrothermal system optimization – software – CEPEL • Capturing hydrological diversity • National Program for Electrical Energy Conservation - Procel • By 2030, savings equivalent to 11,000 MW G-capacity • Labeling, Certification and Minimum standards reinforced by Law (lightning, refrigerators, motors etc)

Electricity Access for All • Light for All Program (Nationalwide) - LPT • Public policy for social inclusion via electricity • Governance in 3 levels: federal, province and municipality • Choice of projects and implemention locally decided • LPT – 1st Phase – 2003 to 2011: 14 million people • US$ 11 billion, coming from Sector Fund • Grid extension: 99% • LPT – 2nd Phase – 2011 to 2014: 3.3 million people • US$ 3 billion, coming from Sector Fund • Micro-grids; local energy sources: 30% • Low-incoming consumers (30 – 150 kWh/month) • Scaling up subsidies • Cost: US$ 1.2 billion/year – Sector Fund
