Active role for outside world of work in all curricula Problems from practice, as starting point for learning • Parts of the curricula, year 1 – 4, are reserved for problems from practice • Students work on those problems in groups varying from 1-8 students • Social Workers from institutions or organisations act as co-instructors • Social Workers take part in judging the work of the students

  26. How do we operate as ISO • As each institute, ISO has a Manager External Relations • As each institute, ISO has an External Relations Office

Manager External Relations The Manager External Relations is a staff member who: • Represents, in coordination with the other managers, Rotterdam University and the Institute in the outside world • Acts as an intermediary for external and internal parties that seek cooperation • Has an advising, initiating and coordinating role within the Institute concerning OIIO policy • Develops OIIO policy and the practice driven parts of the curricula • Identifies internal and external needs concerning relationship issues/assignments • Identifies external commercial needs • Participates in a Rotterdam University wide network

External Relations Office Practice driven activities in all study programmes are being coordinated, administrated and evaluated by this office • matching students with practice-based educational activities • customer relationship management • expertmeetings • …… Manager and Bureau are responsible for carrying out the OIIO policy
