  20. Summary • Except on the coast MERRA winds are consistently stronger than ERA-Interim and CFSR winds • ERA-Interim and CFSR winds are similar • The strongest winds are at Sitakunda and Chandpur

  21. Notes • Mean wind speed was computed from mean wind components, based on the climatological products offered by ERA, MERRA and CFSR. • Cancellations can occur on scalar quantities during the averaging process (e.g. same wind speed but opposite direction). This may explain the weak annual winds. • NCAR is recomputing the annual winds from wind speed. Early results on ERA-Interim (1979-1987) shows that annual winds can be twice as large
