Your Excretory System. Mrs. Lostaunau. The Excretory System Has Four Parts. Your kidneys are 2 bean shaped organs about the size of your fist. They are located in the middle of your back, just below the rib cage. 20% of the blood from your hear goes straight to your kidneys.

  2. The Excretory System Has Four Parts

  3. Your kidneys are 2 bean shaped organs about the size of your fist.

  4. They are located in the middle of your back, just below the rib cage.

  5. 20% of the blood from your hear goes straight to your kidneys.

  6. The renal artery takes blood through the kidneys

  7. While in the kidneys, the kidneys remove excess water, pollutants, and urea.

  8. Urea is made in the liver. It is the by product of the body breaking down proteins. Your body does not want to have urea in it.

  9. After the “bad stuff “ is removed from the blood, the blood leaves the kidneys through the renal vein.

  10. In the kidneys the urea and water is turned into urine. The kidneys send the urine to the bladder.

  11. The bladder stores the urine until it reaches capacity. Then it sends a signal to the brain to empty the bladder.

  12. When people have kidneys that don’t work or don’ t have kidneys, they need to have the urea taken out with a dialysis machine.
