  3. Supply chains research by Danwatch since 2007 • Lots of public data • Data, which is rarely publicly available = Uncover this information through extensive desk- and field research Could this be done smarter? What do we do?

  4. Open Supply Chain Google Digital News Initiative-The Digital News Initiative (DNI) is a collaboration between Google and news publishers in Europe to support high quality journalism and encourage a more sustainable news ecosystem through technology and innovation.

Phase 1: The explorative phase What we did • Internal surveys • Map existing knowledge & possible partners What we found out • No magic button • Every experts have their own methods • Data do not only have categories and properties - it has relations New possibilities also means new obstacles and questions that need answers • Yes to openness, but how do we do it? • Yes to data, but how will we verify it? • Yes to transparency, but how do we convince the ones with the knowledge we need
