Purpose • We are a non-profit scientific and education-based organization, and • We advocate for the conservation profession and for science-based conservation policy
Advocacy • The Society advocates for USDA, State, and Local Conservation Policy, Programs and Technical Assistance • Our MT Chapter works with other Conservation partner organizations to sponsor conferences, symposiums, and tours addressing current agriculture technology and natural resource issues
Mission • To foster the science and art of soil, water, and related natural resource management to achieve sustainability
Objectives • Encourage natural resource education by offering two scholarships to students who are enrolled in a natural resource program at an accredited college, university, or vocational school in either Montana or North Dakota

Our Membership • Consists of approximately 90 conservation enthusiasts working in many phases of agriculture and natural resources in Montana • Provides a local voice for natural resources at a National level
Membership Benefits • Quarterly Chapter newsletter to provide members with current natural resource and chapter information • Journal of Soil and Water Conservation bimonthly
Membership Benefits Conservogram Monthly E newsletter • information on upcoming activities, • professional development opportunities, and • employment opportunities in the natural resources arena.
Cost of Membership • $25 Student membership • $80 Conservationist • Membership dues increase to meet individual needs
Activities • Host an annual land and water management conference to address current natural resource issues • Contributor to the Montana Envirothon for 9th – 12th grade students wishing to learn more about our natural environment
Activities • Annual recognition of outstanding professionals and landowners who have contributed to the Society’s mission. • Awards made at international and chapter level each year.
Activities • Affiliate in the Montana Smart Growth Coalition – a statewide coalition to encourage sustainable patterns of development in Montana
Activities • Coordination with Universities and students across the state to promote student involvement and poster presentations at our annual conference
Activities • Circle of Earth bracelet kits provided to schools and youth groups to foster recognition of the inter-dependence between natural resources and people.
Tours Bucksnort fire Weed Control Tour - 2004 • Host an annual summer tour to view and discuss on the ground issues related to natural resource conservation in Montana. Coal-Bed Methane Tour -2005
