Critique • Likes • Discussion questions are included to encourage future conversations on race relations • Writing style is personal and detailed • I could relate to some of her personal stories, especially Chapter 3: The Early Years “Is my skin brown because I drink chocolate milk?” • Dislikes • Focuses mainly on Black-White issues • There is a need for deeper discussions (more than one chapter) on other diverse groups

Recommendations • Dr. Tatum writes a great book that I highly recommend all educators and parents read as a tool for dealing with race relations • She includes discussion topics and other resources that readers can use to assist in active engagement of this important topic
