Why the Compact is important • Clear sense of how to work together and what to expect • Recognition that working together brings more benefit to communities than working alone • Helps to build stronger partnerships • Enables both sectors to manage disputes by outlining expectations www.compactvoice.org.uk
Commissioning - helps commissioners to do their job better – clear processes, reduces ambiguity, shared expectations • Compliance – has power and can be used to hold public bodies to account • Social Value – helps to ensure you get the maximum social value for investment • Partnerships – working together to assess need and plan services ensures that gaps are addressed and best practice followed Key Compact messages? www.compactvoice.org.uk
Involvement – being involved at compact related events and meetings is a way of connecting and a way to find out what goes on locally • Cuts/Decommissioning – good relationships with the VCFS can bring tangible benefits to the statutory sector • Infrastructure Organisations – the Compact was developed specifically to support community groups and infrastructure organisations • Council & Councillors – the Compact is non-party political. The 3 major political parties have expressed their support. Key Compact messages? www.compactvoice.org.uk
