  4. Although the Home & the Church Are Both Divine Institutions, They Are Two Distinct Institutions • They May Have Some Overlapping Responsibilities • Teaching • Benevolence Must Maintain Distinctiveness 1 Tim. 5:16

By Shouldering Its Responsibility To Teach The Bible • Family Members Spend More Time At Home Than They Do in the Assembly. • The Church Can & Should Influence the Home. • Deut. 4:5-10; Psa. 78:2-8; Eph.6:1-4 Families That Neglect Bible Study in the Home Will Soon Neglect the Church WAYSTHE HOME CAN INFLUENCE THE CHURCH

  6. By Instilling Wholesome Attitudes Toward Authority • Children Should Learn To Respect Authority of Their Parents • Eph. 6:1-2; Prov. 1:8 • If Authority Is Not Respected in the Home, It Will Not Be Respected in the Church • Eph. 1:22; Heb. 13:17; Tit. 2:15 WAYSTHE HOME CAN INFLUENCE THE CHURCH

By Teaching & Practicing Discipline • Respect for Discipline Begins in the Home • Pro. 13:24; 19:18; 22:15; 29:15-16 • If Family Members Do Not Respect Discipline in the Home, They Will Not Respect It in the Church • Heb. 12:5-11; 1 Cor. 5; 2 Thess. 3:6-14 WAYSTHE HOME CAN INFLUENCE THE CHURCH

By Establishing & Maintaining Proper Priorities • God Demands First Place • Exod. 20:3-6; Matt. 22:37; 6:33 • Family Members Who Learn To Put God First in the Home Will Put God First in the Church. • God comes before recreation • God comes before vacation • God comes before family WAYSTHE HOME CAN INFLUENCE THE CHURCH

  9. By Developing Love & Respect For One Another • Love & Respect Should Be Shown in the Home • Col. 3:18-21 • Learn To Express in the Church: • Fellowship (Acts 2:42-47) • Comfort (1 Thess. 4:18) • Encouragement (Heb. 3:13) WAYSTHE HOME CAN INFLUENCE THE CHURCH

By Establishing High Moral Values • What Is Learned in the Home Will Be Practiced in the Church • Why Are Some Congregations Having Problems With Smoking, Drinking, Dancing, Gambling, Immodest Dress, Sexual Immorality, Pornography, Adultery…? • The Church Is To Be Pure (Eph. 5:25-27) WAYSTHE HOME CAN INFLUENCE THE CHURCH
