  1. Background Note: A Dojo is a Japanese term which literally means "place of the way". Initially, Dojos were temples and the term referred to a formal training place for any of the Japanese arts. Nowadays, it is considered the formal gathering place for students of martial arts. The concept of a Dojo as a martial arts training place is a Western one; in Japan, any physical training facility, including professional wrestling schools may be called Dojos as well depending on the context.

  2. Comprehension questions: How often does Mike go to the gym? What kind of food does he eat? Does he have much free time? Is he a full-time karate teacher? When does he teach children karate? How does he spend his free time?
