  1. Question of the Day! Are all great works of literature just letters? Are all great works of music just sound frequencies? Are all magnificent sculptures just atoms?

  2. Introduction to Mendelian Genetics Mr. NicholsPHHS

  3. 7th Hour Killer Plan Outcome • At 3am Sunday morning the front door of the Diner was kicked open (shoe residue suggests a size 12 men’s shoe). • Given that the Diner was dark the regular cameras could not pick up on anything besides shadows, the night vision cameras were shot out using a 9mm round. These cameras did not pick up any footage prior to being shot.

  4. Outcome continued • The intruder stole the lunch box and the fake necklace and left in a light blue car heading to the western most forest. • Police quickly responded to the tracking signal of the necklace and found it abandoned on the side of the road, 30 miles outside the city.

  5. Bit a Evidence • On the fake necklace were traces of the following: • Lake Water • A fake blonde hair caught in the chain • Gun shot residue (GSR) • Traces of a chemical commonly found in female perfume. (Terpineol) • Large amounts of diluted nitric acid. • Markings from where the central gem was drilled into.

  6. Share the Love!!! • Give a Hug, High Five, Hand Pound, Hand Shake or all of the above to at least 3 people 

  7. The Man, The Legend, The Friar! Gregor Mendel (1822-1884)

  8. Key Concepts • Alleles: Different VERSIONS of a gene. (Examples: hair color, eye color) • Dominant versus recessive alleles(A and a) • Genotype versus Phenotype

  9. Major Accomplishments • Known as the “Father of Genetics,” for his work with pea plants. • Mendel demonstrated that the inheritance of certain traits in pea plants follows particular patterns. • Demonstrated that particular phenotypes had certain genotypes behind them and with that information you could predict the traits of the offspring.

  15. Killer Plan 1st Period Outcome • Saturday at midnight, a speeding pick up truck drove past the library, horn blaring. Police in the area responded quickly and chased the suspect west of the town for 30 minutes, losing the suspect on an off road path. • Meanwhile at the library the security cameras were shot out with a 9mm round. The back entrance was broken into and….

  16. Outcome continued • The bookshelves were all pushed over and the library and the suspect exited through the back door. • Before leaving a message was written on one of the back tables in sharpie. “1 Peter 5:8”

  17. Evidence Recovered • A size 12 footprint recovered in the mud on the back door. Around the footprint were traces of lake water. • A single foreign finger print was recovered on the back door. This print belongs to James Scott.

  18. Killer Question 2nd Hour Outcome • At 2am on Sunday morning a small light blue sedan was seen patrolling around the Miller’s house. At 235am in sat idle in front of the house. • Police approached the car some 5 minutes later to which the car peeled out and sped into the western-most forest. Police chased closely.

  19. Outcome continued • After a 20 minute chase the blue car went off the road and flipped into a small ravine. The driver fled into the forest and disappeared from sight. The car has been recovered and is currently being analyzed here are some of the preliminary pieces of data:

  20. Car Data • Contents of the car include: a lighter, matches, three orange tarps, a female blonde wig, two boxes of tissues (1 full, 1 empty), some broken camera parts, some eaten take out orders from the diner, three disposable cell phones (destroyed). • Trunk Contents: 1 bloody 8 inch knife (Angelica’s blood), a used spare tire, a black hoodie, a map of Crescent Falls, and a uniform for the local electrical company “Falls Electric.”

  21. 4th Hour Killer Plan Outcome • On Saturday around 2am, the police in and around the school responded to a loud noise coming from one of the classroom’s in the northeast corner of the building. The sounds was said to sound like screaming. • As police entered the room they saw only a stereo as the source of the sound. The door behind the policemen closed violently and was barricaded with an object preventing the policemen from leaving.

  22. Outcome Continued • The killer then shot out the cameras in the basement with a 9mm pistol. The person was hooded and masked, the darkness of the basement made acquiring images difficult. • The killer acquired the fake necklace, exited the school and traveled to the western woods where the signal stopped. And the necklace discarded on the side of the road. No finger prints or DNA was recovered.

  23. Bit of Evidence • Etched on the fake necklace was the words: Genesis 38:27
