  4. Alger Hiss • Whittaker Chambers (former Communist) • Accuses Alger Hiss of being a Communist • Hiss • Denies claim • Richard Nixon • Convinces HUAC to press the case • Decision: Hiss found guilty of perjury

  5. The Rosenbergs • Julius & Ethel • Charged with passing secret information to Soviets • Information regarding atomic bomb • Evidence based off one person’s testimony • Rosenbergs claim innocence • Decision: guilty & sentenced to death
