Environment. Notes and Terms to define:. POLLUTION- To pollute, to make unclean, impure or corrupt, to desecrate, defile or contaminate OZONE- A shroud of poisonous gas enveloping the earth, a form of oxygen which is highly toxic (one part per million is poisonous to humans).

  2. Notes and Terms to define: • POLLUTION- To pollute, to make unclean, impure or corrupt, to desecrate, defile or contaminate • OZONE- A shroud of poisonous gas enveloping the earth, a form of oxygen which is highly toxic (one part per million is poisonous to humans)

  3. Notes and Terms to define cont.: • C.F.C- Chloroflurocarbons-- chemicals first developed as coolants for air conditioning/ refrigeration and aerosol sprays. Each molecule of CFC lived to destroy thousands of molecules of ozone • ACID RAIN- Moisture in the form of rain/ snow which contains sulfur oxides which become diluted soup of sulfuric and nitric acid, reaches the ground, plants and the water cycle can’t handle the added acidity threatens all ecosystems.

  4. Notes and Terms to define cont.: • WETLANDS- Watered land areas which provide a critical habit for thousands of species of plants and animals--The wetlands occur in or can occur in most geographic regions and diverse climate zone. These habitats are usually threatened by human interference
