Team Expectations • Players • Commitment to the team • Respect each other, your coaches, managers, game officials, parents and yourselves • Be on time with your equipment, ready to participate • For all games, arrive at rink one hour prior • Understand the rules and consequences of the game • Section 35.04: Physical violence (including shoving matches) require immediate suspension • Section 35: Penalty minute thresholds for Midget = 400 minutes which include pre-season • Do it because you have fun • Parents • Commitment to your child • Respect of each other, your coaches, managers, game officials and yourselves • Help hold your son accountable • Understand the rules of the game and good sportsmanship • SCAHA Rule 17.08: Spectator ejection; $250 club fine and suspension for 30 days • SCAHA Rule 35.06: Coaches and managers are responsible for conduct of players and parents • Be responsible for fee’s, supporting team goals • Communicate through manager • Club • Team fee’s and paperwork comply to USA Hockey, CAHA and SCAHA rules • Both jersey’s, socks, approved helmet (Navy with both HECCA and Canadian approval stickers) with chin strap and mouth guard • ETA for jerseys: by Labor Day to support tournaments • Pre-Game dress code to include: (Polo shirts or other as coach and club dictates) • Coach • Practice (Ice, Dry land) • Support Coach’s decision • Communicate through managers
Tournament Expectations • Non-Tier Team Tournaments are optional but highly recommended • Saying that, of course we want every player to attend • How many and when • Due to current resources, we are planning for three • 2 which are drivable (San Jose – Phoenix) • 1 which would require a flight (Canada, Boston, Denver) • Planned Timing • Labor Day • Thanksgiving • Between Christmas and New Year • Presidents Day • What to expect • Great lifelong memories • Unique opportunities for team and parent fellowship • Extra team activities (Curling, Go-Cart Racing, etc.) • Team dinner • Increased competition • Passports and traveling with minors • If you don’t have your passport, get on it. It can take 6 – 8 weeks • Budgeting for team to share among each player • All tournament fees which are required up front (Team fees normally $1000 - $1600) • Two coaches travel and per diem expenses as described by Cal Wave Board guidelines • Your own family travel, lodging, food, etc.
Opportunities to Serve You get out what you put in. For many of us, this is the last opportunity to be active in our son’s lives. Take advantage of this opportunity to help build a lifelong experience for both of you. • Score board / time clock for all regular home games • Training will be provided • Two people per game is typical • Four – six people to share duties • Replaces a $20+ per home game added expense • Fund raising • Coordinate team and Cal Wave events • Team events are without restrictions and can be used for any purpose • Goal cans, car washes, sales • Non-Profit sponsorships and fund raising opportunites are currently not avaiable • Tournament coordination • Hotel, arrival, shared driving • Extra activities and team functions • Game Water Bottles • Have a dozen water bottles at each game on the bench • Replaces a $12+ per game added expense for purchasing water • Statistician • Tracks Shots on Goal, Penalty Minutes and other team player stats • Alerts coaches and managers of potential team penalty issues and MVP candidates • Holds official team statistician score sheets
