GENCAC Specimen Processing (November 2001) Central Laboratory BLOOD COLLECTION STAGE 1 immediate processing (Complete VPT Form) STAGE 2 15 min post-collection STAGE 3 30 min post-collection FINAL STAGE less than 90 min post-collection STORAGE (Tally on Contents Sheet) Tube #1 Room temperature rack for 30 - 45 minutes Centrifuge 10 min at 3000 x g Transfer all serum into six 2-mL microvials. Store at Room Temperature until put in freezer Store vials at -70°C 10-mL red/gray top tube Tube #2 Ice water bath rack, then centrifuge 10 min at 3000 x g Transfer plasma equally into four 2-mL microvials Store in refrigerator until put in freezer Store vials at -70°C 5-mL red top invert 8 times Tube #3 Ice water bath rack, then centrifuge 10 min at 3000 x g Transfer plasma equally into four 2-mL microvials Mix cells, then transfer into 2-mL microvial and 8-mL vial Store in refrigerator until put in freezer Store vials at -70°C 5-mL blue top invert 8 times Tube #4 Ice water bath rack, then centrifuge 10 min at 3000 x g 10 mL lavender top invert 8 times Transfer plasma equally into seven 2-mL microvials. Transfer packed cells into two 8-mL vials. Store in refrigerator until put in freezer Store vials at -70°C Tube #5 Ice water bath rack, then centrifuge 10 min at 3000 x g. 10-mL lavender top invert 8 times
