  6. Conclusions from 2005 Effort • Adults and subadults (< 5 mo.) caught • Confirmed presence in DeBay’s Slough, Mud Lake, and Clear Lake • Population density appears low • Eradication possible if take action now

Skagit County 2006 Trapping Program • Trapping resumed in January 2006 • The surveillance area was expanded • Jan-March: 1500 pounds of bait placed at 103 bait stations: • Debay’s Slough: No sign • Hart’s Slough: No Sign • Clear Lake: 1 bait station hit, 1 SA male captured (2/15/06). • Mud Lake: No Sign • Near Turner Creek: Sign Found (Citizen report) Captured 1 adult male (3/1/06). • Barney Lake: Credible citizens report (possible large male shot)

Skagit County 2006-2007 Trapping Program • Trapped: - SA Male at Clear Lake (3/31/06) - Adult Male Barney Lake (4/27/06 - Lactating, adult female at Barney Lake (5/10/06) • Bait stations placed on Skagit WA HQ and vicinity August 2006 – no sign observed • Bait stations in core trapping area pulled October 2006 and quarterly checks began • Sites revisited in February 2007 - no sign observed • Trapper caught subadult at Beaver Lake in February 2007

  11. What’s Next? • Expand assessment work across larger geographic area • Check locations already trapped on quarterly basis • Respond to reports from public • Continue “Wanted” poster distribution • Remote camera bait station project
