  1. Erasmus + at Struer Statsgymnasium 2016-2019

  2. Project definition • Project title: • ”Facebook or Face to Face? A Multicultural Exploration of the Positive and Negative Impacts of Science and Technology on the 21st Century” • Participatingschools: Manchester, Riga, Granada, Augsburg og Estaire

  3. What is the project about? • The project will span over three years and is split into three parts. • Every part investigates and explores the primary effects of modern technology in societies and humans with different perspectives and cultures.

  4. First part – First year • The first part of the project is meant for researching different countries’ identities and cultures BEFORE modern technology had an impact on the different culturesof the participating countries. • The first activities of the project will be ”Migration Maps” and ”Family Trees” for each country.

  5. Second part – Second year • The second part of the project moves towards a more present timeframe in the search of positive solutions to problems created by modern progressions like industry, population growth, and environmental problems. • The activities during this part will primarily be attracting attention to alternative ways of protecting the environment in the six cooperating countries.

  6. Third part – Third year • The final year of the project will be initiated with a study of the main technological advancements since World War II. • The project will then move into a study of modern times, investigating the positive and negative effects of modern technology on the individual, society, culture, and the languages of the six cooperating countries.

  7. Student activities in the final part of the project • During the final part of the project, the participating students will primarily be making a documentary film and interviews in the local areas regarding modern technology. • The project will also aim at defining an individual ”National Identity” for each of the participating countries in terms of the use of modern technology.

  8. Other project activities • Other possible project activities will be e.g. futuristic short films about modern technology, a project webpage collecting all material and results from the project, an educational book with the different student activities from the project which we will aim at publishing.

  9. How do wecommunicate with the othercountries? • The project communication between the countries will primarily take place via modern technology, such as Skype, Facebook, Twitter, etc. • The main communication between the six participating countries will therefore be technological which connects well with the title and purpose of the project.

  10. Possibilities of travelling with the project • This project is EU-funded and allows three trips during the three years with selected teachers and students. • During the first year, in March 2017, our destination is Riga. • During the second year, in March 2018, our destination is Granada. • During the third year the project will be finalized at Struer Statsgymnasium in March of 2019.

  11. How can I participate? • All students are invited to participate in the project and be as involved as they choose to be. • The main requisite for participation is an interest in the project. • We can only allow about 6 students for each trip. • Therefore each student with an interest will be asked to write an application for travel participation, and the teachers involved will then select the students who will be travelling with the project.

  12. First step – A Student Activity Group • If you want to participate in the project, the first step is to join the student activity group for the project. • The group’s responsibility is to have meetings regularly about the project and delegate and conduct the project activities between the students, guided by the teachers involved in the project.

  13. Do you want to participate? • If you think this project sounds interesting and want to join, or if you have any questions regarding the project, please send an e-mail to: • CVN@stgym.dk • You can also message CVN on Lectio. • Please follow the project in progress on the school webpage and on the school Facebook page!
