Advanced Placement Course Information • Advanced Placement classes are Tier One University Level Courses • Pass the test in May, get college credit, save $900! • Mock Examinations: There are 4. A list of dates will be given to your child at a later date. • First Exam is October 23rd AP Psychology Exam consists of 100 MC questions and 2 Essay Questions

Homework Policy • Students will have some type of assignment for this class every day. It may be working on their Cornell notebook or composition book, doing some assigned reading, reviewing for a test, etc. • Advanced middle school and regular high school courses require 1-7 hours of home work per week. • For AP Courses, they require 3-21 hours of home work per week.
Tutoring • I generally stay after school every day to help students/work with my clubs etc. • Let me know 1 day in advance to make sure I will be here and have no other obligations to attend to.
The Social Studies departmental grading policy is: • 30% Tests (Unit Exams, A.P. Practice Exams, etc.) • 25% ALL Essays and Projects (including Timed Writings, etc.) • 20% Quizzes (including Pop Quizzes, Reading quizzes, etc.) • 15% Classwork and Homework (Cornell Chapters, Charts, etc.) • 5% Notebook (Entire Cornell, 2-inch Binder, etc.) • 5% Participation
Parent Help with Gradebook/Homework Access • Gradebook: Grades are also accessible online through the Parent Portal at https://gradebook.browardschools.com/PIV/Logon. All you need is your child's BCPS student ID, and student’s Date of Birth (DOB). Through this website, you can also set up E-Mail Alerts, in which you’ll receive an e-mail informing you if your child’s grades have changed (ex: dropped lower than a 79%). • Home Learning Assignments access: All home learning assignments are posted online and in the classroom. For the online Home Learning Assignments: • Go to www.somersetcentral.org Click on: Students Then click on: Classes/Homework Then click on: Middle/High Social Studies Then click on: Ms. Jennifer Morales Then choose the Section (or Period) your child is in. • You can Click ADD TO MY CLASS LIST or SEE ALL HOMEWORK. You can setup alerts to let you know when I update the website by clicking ADD TO MY CLASS LIST.

Join the School Advisory Council! • The School Advisory Council (SAC) is the sole body responsible for the final decision making at the school relating to the implementation of school improvement and accountability. • The SAC must: assist in the preparation and evaluation of the School Improvement Plan (SIP), assist the principal in the development of the annual budget, and make decisions regarding the use of funds allocated by the Florida Legislature to the school advisory councils. • The first meeting is on September 16, 2014 at 6:00pm in the Family Life Center. Parents who attend SAC meetings are given five (5) volunteer hours per meeting they attend.
