  2. Pom Pons and Pom Poms Cheerleading Uniforms Every cheerleading squad out there needs a pair. It helps accent the cheerleading uniforms. Did you know you can get show poms for $5.75? These are the show pom pons, which nowadays, these are by far the most popular. Whether you get them in metallic or plastic. The plastic poms will be less expensive, no matter where you go. But the metallic poms are really pretty. Below are examples of a few of the thousands of poms we carry. We have poms that can ship today, or custom poms which take us 5 days to manufacture.

  3. Pompom vs. pompon The term for a decorative tuft of material such as wool or ribbon was originally pompon, which came to English from French in the 19th century, but the misheard form pompom has gradually gained ground. Today, the two are used about equally in English. Two-word spellings such as pom pom and pom pon have never been standard, though they appear in informal contexts, and hyphenated forms such as pom-pom are likewise nonstandard. There’s no reason for the word to have a hyphen.

  4. How To Make A Pom Pom Using A Fork I believe the best way of making small pompoms is using a fork. There are many ways of making nice, full and round looking pompoms (pompons, pom-poms or pom-pons as they are variously written) but the quickest and most wonderful way I know of creating perfectly round and beautifully formed pompoms is to use a humble piece of cutlery. You will need: A fork with four tines (prongs) Some yarn (DK weight acrylic yarn is used for the pictures below, but experiment with different yarn weights for different pompom effects. Here, for your yarn-filled enjoyment is a guide on how to use a fork for creating lovely ittle pom-poms

  5. 1. Start by wrapping your yarn around the prongs of your fork (for the green pompom I wrapped 40 times around, for the red pompom I made 60 wraps) and then cut the end of your yarn. (the examples in the photo are made from DK acrylic yarn) 2. Cut a length of yarn 20cm or so long, and thread beneath your yarn wraps between 2nd and 3rd fork prong. Pass the other end of this length of yarn between prongs over the top of the yarn bundle. Pull both ends and tie into a tight knot. Tie as tightly as you can.

  6. 3. Slip yarn bundle off the end of your fork. snip through all the loops of yarn, and roll pompom between palms to ‘fluff’. Trim any uneven ends. 4. Admire pompoms.
