  2. SUPPLIES FOR SUCCESS • Textbook • Notebook paper for assignments • Spiral notebook for notes • Calculator • Pencils • Questions

  3. CALCULATOR • A TI - 83, 83 plus, 84, 84 plus, or 84 plus silver edition is REQUIRED. • If you use one of my calculators, you are responsible for your assigned number the entire year. • If you lose or damage one of my calculators, you will be placed on the fees and fines list. • Inappropriate language or drawings on my calculator will result in a discipline referral. • If caught playing games on any calculator (mine or yours), the entire calculator memory will be erased.

  4. TUTORING Tutoring will be before or after school by appointment. DO NOT wait to get extra help. Come to tutorials as soon as confusion creeps in.

  5. GRADING POLICY • Daily Grades (DG) 20% • HW, WS, quizzes, etc. • Quizzes count twice • Assessment Grades (AG) 20% • Major Grades (MG) 60% THERE ARE NO RETAKES OF TESTS, QUIZZES, ETC.

  6. WORK IN PENCIL • All work (assignments, quizzes, tests, assessments, etc.) is to be done in pencil. • You may use pen in filling out the INFORMATION SHEET. • Anything done in something other than pencil (pen, crayon, gel pen, blood, etc.) will receive 50% of the earned grade.

  7. PENCIL SUPPLIES • I sell pencils: • WOOD: 25¢ • MECHANICAL (0.07mm): $1.00 • Pencil lead – 0.05 mm, 0.07 mm, 0.09 mm – is free. • Sizes 0.05 mm and 0.07 mm are in the small white set of drawers. You do not need to ask; just come and get what you need. • Size 0.09 is available through me – just ask. • Please take only what you need. • Cap erasers are free.

  9. Make-up Work • When you are absent, you are responsible for the missed work. • If you miss a Test, Quiz, or Assessment, you must make it up either before or after school. • This is a college class – RETESTS ARE NOT GIVEN.

  10. ELECTRONICS POLICY • Electronic devices are not allowed in class at any time. No cell phones, iPod’s, iPads, etc. • I will take them up and turn them in to your house office. • If a cell phone goes off by accident because you forgot to turn it off, I take it up, no questions asked.

  11. DRESS CODE • I enforce it.

  12. CLASSROOM RULES • Have materials out when the tardy bell rings. • Pencils sharpened. • Backpacks are to stay off your desk and on the floor or under your seat until the end-of-class bell rings. • Do not leave seats until the end-of-class bell rings.

  13. CLASSROOM RULES • “10/10 Rule” • Students will not be allowed out of the room during the first 10 minutes / last 10 minutes of class. (JVHS Policy)

COMPUTER LOG-IN ID • The first time you log into the network this school year: • Username: s followed by your 6-digit student ID. • Example:   Student whose id is 400910 will have the username s400910 • Initial password: <mmdd>orcfstudent • You will be prompted to change your password (maximum 7 alphanumeric characters). CALENDARS • Check the calendar before class so you are prepared for that day’s lesson. • If you lose your copy or do not have it with you, calendars are posted on my website, www.pigsflyguy.com. • The grade sheet on the back of the calendar is optional; you are encouraged, though, to maintain it – mistakes have been known to be made!

MISCELLANEOUS • Calculus uses RADIANS, not degrees. • 30o • Unless instructed otherwise, if you get a decimal answer that needs to be rounded, round to THREE DECIMAL PLACES. • You may either use conventional rounding (round down for 0-4, round up for 5-9) or truncation (ignore the next digit). • Ex: 45.8756… • Rounded to 45.876 or 45.875.
