Types of racing There are many events that a horseback rider can participate in. These include: -Thoroughbred horse racing: is the most common horse racing event in the world; you race with thorough bred horses -Steeplechasing: a rider and horse must race around a circuit while jumping over hurdles -Endurance Riding: race lengths start at a 20 mile gallop, and eventually progressing up to a length of 100 miles -American Quarter Racing: horses race a quarter of a mile
Equestrian at the Olympics -horseback riding will be taking place at the 2012 Olympic games in Greenwich Park, London -a country may qualify 5 riders
Equestrian Schedule Equestrian is divided into three different categories: Dressage, Eventing, and Jumping Eventing will take place on the twenty-eighth of July to the thirty-first of July Dressage will be happening on the second of August to the seventh and ninth of August Jumping shall occur on the second of August to the sixth and eighth of August
