Hirohito Japan’s Nightmare
Hirohito was the crown regent when his father was still in power. He had the ability to increase military power and to appoint and dismiss cabinet members and generals. He gained the throne through the death of his father and was supported by the military on his rise to rule.
He invested in raw materials from China, refrained from interfering with political decisions, and hated the Chinese and Koreans. The military used his racial policies as an excuse to attack Nanking in eastern China.
The total amount of casualties was around 8 million. Many of these casualties are both from the Nanking massacre or “the Rape of Nanking” and the bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.
Hirohito allowed the use of biological warfare, human experimentation, using chemical weapons, caused cannibalism in his own country, tortured PMW’s, and allowed sexual slavery.
Many people created propaganda showing Hirohito and others from WWII being fought against by many heroic icons such as Superman and Batman. Others show Hirohito as small rodents and as evil little creatures symbolizing his evil.
