  10. AIMS OF THE AIR CADETS To develop in youth the attributes of good citizenship and leadership; To promote physical fitness; and To stimulate the interest of youth in the air element of the Canadian Forces and in aviation in general.

AIR CADET LEAGUE OF CANADA(Quebec and Ottawa Valley) • MISSION: The Provincial Committee is a civilian organization, whose mission it is to aid, support and advise the Air Cadet Movement and to act as its general spokesperson in order to stimulate the interest of young cadets, aged 12 to 18 years old, in aviation, to enhance their physical abilities and to contribute to their development as responsible citizens.

REGIONAL CADET SUPPORT UNIT – EASTERN (RCSU – EASTERN) • MISSION:The mission of Regional Cadet Support Unit - Eastern (RCSU Eastern) is to plan, organize, direct, control and improve the implementation of Canadian Cadet Program activities for the 245 cadet corps in the Eastern Region (Quebec and the Ottawa Valley).

FINANCES • The squadron financial responsibility rests with and is administered by the sponsoring committee. • Managing cheque signatures • Cash flow supervision • Money for special projects (ex: buying squadron T-shirts) • Being able to identify different worthwhile ways of squadron financing. • Knowing how to organise a fundraising activity.

BUDGET • Chair gets budget estimate from past year (ACC9) • The CO establishes the local training plan • The CO and the chairperson meet to establish a global budget • A joint presentation of the budget to Squadron Sponsoring Committee • Budget must be approved by committee with approval recorded in meeting record.

  26. PUBLIC RELATIONS • It is important that the squadron be involved in the community. • Use all means to achieve this • Annual review invitations to VIPs (mayor, MPPs, MPs, other dignitaries); • Supporters recognitions; • Local newspapers;

  27. PUBLIC RELATIONS (continued) • Poppy Sales • Volunteering at community activities such as blood clinic, community clean-up, food banks, etc.; • Food baskets for Christmas; • What else ...... ????

  35. SHARED MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY • Each partner is responsible for its management and administration (forms, reports, etc.); • Share all correspondence; • Share information (changes, news, etc.); • Discuss the resource limits of each activity and project; • Negotiate supply purchase

  41. MANDATORY TRAINING PROGRAM • 20 mandatory training sessions (60 periods); • 6 mandatory days consisting of days or weekend training; • 2 training days • 2 days of survival (weekend) • Gliders familiarization flights • Inter-squadron day

  42. COMPLEMENTARY TRAINING PROGRAM • 10 complementary training sessions (30 periods) • 4 complementary days consisting of days and/or weekend • 2 training days; and • 2 days within these choices: • 1 or 2 survival days • 1 day of inter-squadron competition • 1 day of element-specific training

SUBSIDISED OPTIONAL TRAINING PROGRAM • Regional directed activities (RDA) and nationally directed activities (NDA) • Financial support: RCSU • Non-discretionary RDA: • Annual zone, provincial and/or regional air rifle marksmanship championships; • Annual zone, provincial and/or regional biathlon (summer and/or winter-style) championships; and • Annual inter-provincial exchanges.

SUBSIDISED OPTIONAL TRAINING PROGRAM • Discretionary RDA: • First aid course; • RCSU Eastern music workshops and the Eastern Region Cadet Music Festival (ERCMF); • Cadet Games with a regional flavour; • Rappelling / Cadet Tree Top Obstacle Course (CTTOC) / wall climbing / geocaching and orienteering; and • Other.

SUBSIDISED OPTIONAL TRAINING PROGRAM • NDA: • annual national cadet air rifle marksmanship championship; • annual national cadet winter biathlon championship; • air cadet international exchange programs; • annual air cadet program Oshkosh Trip; and • annual air cadet program York Soaring Award.
