RDA Functions • Support NSF climate and weather research with data assets • Curate and steward data for the long-term • 600+ datasets compiled over 40+ years (4M files, 600 TB) • Have backup and disaster recovery strategies • Update growing collections • Daily to annual extensions on 70+ datasets • Acquire new datasets to facilitate NSF research • Add ~ 15 new datasets/year • Broker international data exchanges to support U.S. science • TIGGE, ECMWF, Japanese Meteorological Agency • Compile metadata, documentation, and software for users • Provide web-based data discovery across the RDA • Provide data access at NCAR and over the Internet • 7000+ unique users annually (FY10) • 263 TB data delivered (FY10) • Provide data consulting with science educated staff • Build data derived products according to user needs
