  3. Languages • 98% of them speak Spanish, it might sound a little different to you because they usually tend to speak a lot faster than other spanish speakers, and also have their own distinct set of words. They also speak Castellano(spanish)

  4. National Emblem • This consists of five flags known as five fraternal Central American countries -El Salvador -Guatemala -Honduras -Nicaragua -Costa Rica

Meanings National Emblem • BLUE STRIPE ON THE FLAGS -The sea and the sky • WHITE STRIP ON THE FLAGS -Peace • FOURTEEN LAUREL LEAVES -Fourteen Departments of Republic of El Salvador • FIVE VOLCANOS- Represent the Central American Isthmus which represent the five nations in the isthmus, washed by the two oceans • OCEANS -Pacific and Atlantic oceans • EQUILATERAL TRIANGLE -Equality of individuals. The three Branches of the Republic (Executive, Legislative and Judicial) • RAINBOW- Hope • GOD, UNION AND LIBERTY- The Republic of El Salvador is based on this principle • BOW (KNOT)- Unity • SEPTEMBER 15, 1821 Day of Independence of the Republic of El Salvador

  6. National Symbols • National Flower • Originates in the Mesoamerican region, Which belongs to Central American Countries. Its use are for Ornament, Edible, and to manufacture textiles • National Bird • It was declared national bird by Legislative Agreement on October 21, 1999. The torogoz or talapo received this honor due to its unique beauty National Tree This tree can measure up to 15 meters in height. Its great and majestic pink flowers intense color. Its wood is very thin making it highly prized for cabinet work.

  7. Food in Daily life • Corn is the staple of the diet and is most often made into thick tortillas that are eaten at every meal and also are served as tamales and in a thick corn drink called atol. Small red beans are the other staple. A variety of fruits and vegetables are eaten, including mango, papaya, tamarind, oranges, bananas, watermelon, cucumber, pacayao, lettuce, tomatoes, and radish. Salvadorians also eat rice, eggs, chicken, pork, beef, fish and seafood, and some game. Coffee is the most common drink, along with highly sugared fruit drinks. Elotes(new corn) are eaten in September before the corn hardens.

  8. Traditions • Some traditions we do are on holidays like thanksgiving and Christmas. We usually make family gatherings. Where each family member brings a dish of food to eat like tamales and pupusas which we are famous for they are like stuffed tortillas. • Salvadorian gatherings are very loud when they celebrate because everyone is having a good time together.

  9. Artifacts • In el salvador people make lots of pottery and tons of designing stuff.
