Course Overview: • 16 week course • Week 1-13: Focus on the textbook and Flat Classroom Challenges • Each week, the students are expected to read the assigned chapter(s), answer the Essential Questions, and participate in the Flat Classroom Challenge. • Week 14-16: Complete 3 Livetext Assignments

I found this website very hard to navigate and probably will not use it in my future classroom. • Challenge #4: Practiced using asynchronous and synchronous tools to communicate such as: AOL, Facebook, and Educator’s PLN. • Challenge #5: Researched ways to use mobile devices for instructional purposes: Dictionary.com and Chalkboard Lite. • Challenge #6: Classroom Monitoring Portal • http://www.netvibes.com/amywallace11#Public_Page

  5. What I have learned through Flat Classroom Challenges: (Cont.) • Challenge #7: Researched a popular social media and interviewed a student who is currently using the tool. I chose Facebook. • Challenge #8: Wikispace • http://amywallace1.wikispaces.com/ • Challenge #9: Assessed the classmates that participated in my Wikispace discussion using the Rubric 2: Engagement, Reflection, and Evaluation. • Challenge #10: Wrote a project plan where students were given a choice in the outcome. My students were required to create a PowerPoint presentation or record a news report about weather phenomenons. • Challenge #11: Using Challenge #10 project plan, I aligned the project objectives with ISTE NETS standards.

Summary: • 7 Steps To Flatten Your Classroom: • Connection, Communication, Citizenship, Contribution and • Collaboration, Choice, Creation, Celebration • Teacher’s Role: • Provide students with the opportunity to become digital citizens, • Monitor projects daily, • Demonstrate ongoing learning, & • MODEL!!!! • Student’s Role: • Contribute & collaborate with their partners by: Receiving, Reading, & • Responding to messages. • Making important choices throughout the project so he or she will received the desired outcome.
