Sector Compact • Provision of Train to Gain funding to support all learners’ achievement of the relevant Cogent framework (i.e. regardless of learner eligibility status). • Development of a credible brokerage service capable of identifying and addressing specific processing skills needs • Qualifications reform to provide a transition between existing NVQs and VRQs towards smaller, credit based qualifications targeted at specific training needs • Development of an effective model for the accreditation of prior learning at a company level, against the appropriate framework
Sector Compact Train to Gain • T2G is the funding mechanism for training • Current rules are restrictive for the Cogent sector being focused on less technical jobs • The Sector Compact maps the funding requirements that meet the Cogent sector needs • Funding is requested for qualifications at levels 2, 3 & 4

Sector Compact Assessment System for Employer Training (ASET) • Recognition of the Employer’s training system • Training Quality Assured by an Awarding body • A skills gap analysis against Cogent Frameworks • Individuals then receive credit for the company training undertaken • Progress captured on a training passport • Accreditation for achievement including individual modules • Process managed by the National Skills Academy
Sector Compact • The Skills Pledge • Cogent has developed a Pledge relevant to it’s sector but in-line with the Government initiative • TheCogentSkillsPledgecovers: • Training employees to world class standards • Accreditation of employee’s training including company training • Use of quality assured training providers
