Why Do Air Conditioner Produce Water? It is one of the frequently asked questions when it comes to the functioning of Air Conditioning units. Most of us wonder how this happens.Well, here is a detailed explanation of the process for those of you curious to know the reason behind the water coming out of Aircon units.
Here it is: The liquid that comes out of the air conditioner is water that gets condensed by the cooling coils including the evaporator. There are three components as you might know compressed, condenser and the evaporator. The evaporator gets so cold that the moisture in the air starts to condense and it condenses to a level which builds up in the drain pan as it flows through the PVC.
You may have witnessed the process if you were ever outside the window airconditioning unit, when you do, you notice that some water collects below it. Air conditioners release water as part of the cooling process. The condensation and then the evaporation process results in moisture which get cooled on this inside and converts into air and thus we get cool air for the air conditioners however as we know the temperature on the outside is high which results in water droplets that comes out of the AC in the form of water.
Key factors are as follows: Humidity In summers we have High temperatures which often bring higher humidity although it depends on the region and climatic conditions. For those who don't know much about humidity here is the definition - 'Humidity is the amount of water in air'. One of key ways that your air conditioner unit makes the air cooler and your room more comfortable is primarily by removing most of this humidity and therefore lowers the humidity level which results in cooler temperatures.
Drain Lines All the ACs need to drain the vast majority of the water it produces and If the drain, due to any reason what so ever, clogged, then the water collects on the inside. It often results in problems such as water leaks from other areas of the air conditioner. If you ever come across this situation with your Air Conditioner simply unplug it and have a good look at the drain line. Clean it and it should work. If you are not good at it or do not have any experience then you may want to call a AC service expert.
Ice Collection This happens when there is too much water collection or accumulation of ice outside the condenser. Although, there are advanced technologies aware which take care of it but still you might come across this situation. Now, this accumulated ice starts to come out of the air conditioner in the form of water. These were some of the reasons why you find water coming out of your air conditioner.
