  1. What does a lesson involve? Let’s review what we have learned about a successful lesson so far? Think about teacher’s role/student’s role, transition between techniques, the techniques themselves, learning objectives, supplemental materials and assessment measures.

  2. Matching Please work individually to match the left-hand side to the right and side of this worksheet. After a few minutes I will ask you to compare your results with a partner.

  3. Next step: Lesson Preparation I will pass out a second handout now and ask you to spend a few minutes to take some notes on your own lesson preparation. Next activity will be pair work. Your instructions are to interview your partner as a competent professional. Ask them the same questions as on the handout. You should answer what you actually do – not what you think you ought to do. Lastly, draw up a conclusion on the findings of your interview. How has your planning improved based on the relevance and usefulness of this discussion? You may revert to the answers you initially provided.

  4. Pair work Now I will divide you and ask you to work with someone who teaches a similar level to you. I will read out the first name of a pair. Please identify yourself and then I will read your partners name. Please find somewhere quiet to work within this room.

  5. 1) Interview your partner. 2) Discover how your colleagues do their planning. 3) Make conclusions about the style, detail and relevance of planning.

  6. Teacher pairings
