Key Law Changes for 2012 • Law 4 – Players’ Equipment • Law 8 – Start and Restart of Play • Other Law Changes • Law 1 – The Field of Play • Advertising must be spaced back from the field • Law 3 – The Number of Players • The players that begin the match are accepted as starting players, even if listed on the roster as a substitute • Law 12 – Fouls and Misconduct • Slight wording change in section on when a caution is required for handling the ball. This change means that on any dropped ball, if kicked DIRECTLY (on the first touch) into the goal, the goal will not count • If this happens, the restart will be the same as any ball crossing the goal line outside the goal (CK if last touched by attacker, GK if last touched by defender) • If a second touch occurs by any player before the ball crosses the goal line (even by the same player that made the first touch), then the goal will count.
