  2. Nickname And Region of the U.S. • Maine’s nickname is The Pine Tree State. • Maine is located in the Northeastern Region in the U.S.

  3. Capital City, major cities, and population • Augusta is Maine’s capital city • Major cities in Maine are Portland, Greenfield, and Bar Mills. • Maine’s population is 1,328,361 people.

  4. State flag, state bird, and state tree Maine’s flag: Maine’s state tree is the Eastern White Pine: Maine’s state bird is the Black-capped chickadee

  5. Government • The current governor of Maine is Paul LePage. • The current Senator of Maine is Susan Collins(republican) and Olympia Snowe (republican)

  6. Borders and Geography • The borders of Maine are New Hampshire, Atlantic Ocean, and Canada. • Maine’s geography is glaciers, jagged coastlines, boulders, harbors and bays
