Work Effort – Alternative Analysis Phase • Build upon extensive Tampa Rail Plan work • Undertake additional data collection and analysis • Select starter line corridor • Update and evaluate alternatives • Select locally preferred alternative • Develop funding plan – sources, amounts, timing • Re-evaluate environmental impacts • Prepare New Starts submittals - project evaluation/rating • FTA approval required before PE work can begin

Current StatusTechnical Work • Early Action Work underway • Compile relevant information from other efforts • Tampa Rail Plan, TBARTA, MPO • Determine travel demand model requirements • Update project purpose and need • Recommend starter line corridor • Develop New Starts Action Plan for each corridor • Target Completion – late April 2009

Current Status Agency Coordination • Project Steering Committee • Provide input and recommendations on key project issues • Coordinate project with local & regional plans • TBARTA, MPO 2035 Long Range Transportation Plan • Membership • County, Cities, MPO, FDOT, TBARTA, Aviation Authority, USF • Three meetings held to date

  7. Upcoming Efforts • Community Outreach Group • Coordinate various agency public outreach efforts • Provide wider distribution of project information • Membership • HART, MPO, Cities, County, FDOT, TBARTA

Upcoming Efforts • Issue procurement for next work effort • Take starter line corridor into New Starts process • Specific tasks • Develop models – travel demand and cost • Update and evaluate alternatives • Finalize locally preferred alternative and funding plan • NEPA re-evaluation • Prepare FTA New Starts submittals • Key Decision Issue • Including Preliminary Engineering in project effort • Potential to accelerate work effort
