  1. HIV and AIDS in Victoria—1983 to 2004 Newly Acquired HIV = Data collected since 1991. Individuals classified on the basis of a previous negative HIV test and/or a seroconversion illness within the 12 months preceding HIV diagnosis.

HIV diagnosis—by exposure category and year, Victoria HPC = High Prevalence Country (include those countries in sub-Saharan Africa, Cambodia, Myanmar, and certain countries within the Caribbean where the adult HIV prevalence is >1% and HIV is transmitted predominantly by heterosexual contact).
