O’Brien’s quote represents INGSOC’s ideology that it is essential to “learn, understand and accept” in order to be cured. This, in turn, means that the people of Oceania will never be free. Agree or disagree with this statement by using evidence from the text. • It has been asserted that our government, elements of our society, or both can be legitimately characterized as Orwellian in some ways. Support, refute or qualify this statement in an argumentative essay. Provide references to the novel as well as other relevant sources (newspapers, magazines, etc.) as support for your stance. • Winston ‘fate’ (and therefore everyone’s fate) was predestined.
