The Beginning of LGU In two Congressional Acts (1862 & 1890), specific universities designated as land-grant universities. Mission: Teach agriculture and mechanic arts.
The 4-H Seed: Teaching Children to Teach Adults 4-H evolved to address the needs of the changing environment
1914 Smith-Lever Act: Cooperative Extension Mission: Educational Training and Assistance 1. Agriculture 2. Home Economics (Family and Consumer Sciences) 3. 4-H Youth Development 4. Community Development
